Barak Obama Superhero Endorsement

I love the fact that after years of creating fake U.S. Presidents for the comics, writers have come around to depicting the real one by face and name. Don't get me wrong, the concept is not that new. I've seen Bush cameos before and even some older ones but Barack Obama is showing up quite a bit more than his predecessors and he hasn't even taken office yet.
A couple of months ago I wrote a post that showed Savage Dragon supporting Obama's candidacy. You can seen him here with Spidey. Now I get that Spidey is the icon for Marvel. I have no problem with Barak calling him partner. It's all good but wouldn't it be great to see him endorse a Black Superhero like Black Panther, Black Lightning, or Static? I'm just saying. It's 2009, let's keep those milestones coming. How many Black Superheroes should Obama have in his cabinet? Can you see them playing Basketball at the White House?

It's not new @ all. Superman met JFK a couple of times in the 60's. Since COIE I've seen Superman, and other DC heroes, interact with Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton. Never saw George H.W. Bush in a DC Comic. Nor George W. Bush (since Lex Luthor won the Presidency in 2000).

I recall Ronald Reagan appearing in Marvel's New Universe line a few times (& Michael Dukakis had a cameo, as he was the Vice Presidential candidate for one of the fictional characters, who won).
And Bush has been all over the Ultimate Universe.

Anyway, I think this is great! I ordered my copy online last Friday, to make sure I get a copy (& the website I got it from was sold out the next day).

You're right. It's not all that new. The fact that it's CNN newsworthy might be. I just want the Pres to give a pound to a Brother for once. I do seem to remember Black Lightning saving the President during Amazons Attack. I don't think he got a handshake though.

Captain America once battled Ronald Reagan when Reagan was turned into a snake-man by the Viper. He also once negociated with Optimus Prime for peace between the U.S. government and the Autobots. Reagan was the superheroic "Teflon" in New Universe, he had the power to heal from any damage.

Reminds me of when the news made a big deal when Marvel made the decision that The Thing was Jewish. They went on about him being the first openly Jewish super hero, not realizing there were dozens for years already. Justice, Sabra and The Golem from Marvel, for instance.
