Angela Bassett plays Amanda Waller
I just heard that Angela Bassett has been cast as Amanda Waller in the upcoming Green Lantern movie. I think it's a great choice. She can definitely pull of the character and I'm excited to see her do it. I wonder if they make her put some weight on.

Why didn't they get CCH Pounder, who played her in the JLU ? she looked closer to the character , and she'd probably be cheaper!
wow this is interesting. Glad to see her, a very deserving actress, get the roe of such a powerful woman. Pounder would have been just as great.
*role*
I'm glad Bassett is working. The woman personifies dignity onscreen. But I too think CCH Pounder would've been a rather obvious choice. Even Pam Grier. Oh and if they make Angela put on weight, somebody will die!
Yeah, let's get one of the most beautiful and physically fit women in the world to play a hard ass whose personality and physique were described by the nickname "The Wall." Only in Hollywood could a Nell Carter type get played by Pam Grier, and now this...
I agree Frank. But that's all the more reason to create and produce our own. Never expect others to depict you in a light brighter than their own...
I do think CCH Pounder is a better to fit to what I'm used to but I'm willing to give Angela Bassett the benefit of the doubt. I'm a fan of both actresses.
excellent choice
She is beyond a doubt, an excellent actress, but I think the roll should be tackled by a full figured actress...What about Mo'nique?

I'd watch Angela Bassett in anything. You can't have too much "fine" in your life.
I think they probably cast her to give more star power to the role, but the woman can ACT, and I'd be willing to see how she handles it.
I always wanted her to be Storm
